Beef & Guinness Pie
A savory delight with succulent beef shins slow-cooked in a rich Guinness-infused sauce, paired with creamy cheesy mashed potatoes, baked to golden perfection.
Ingredients
Ingredients:
- 2kg Beef shins, cubed
- 80g MAGGI® JUS LIÉ MIX
- 50g MAGGI® BEEF BOOSTER
- 1L Boiling water
- 500ml Guinness
- 100ml Olive oil
- 200g Onion, large dice
- 150g Carrot, ½ slice
- 200g Mushroom, sliced
- 4 Garlic cloves, diced
- 150g MAGGI® Instant Mashed Potato Mix
- 250g Cheddar cheese, grated
Preparation
-
1Preheat oven to 150°C. Dust the cubes with MAGGI® JUS LIÉ MIX, then brown meat on an oiled hot pan. Transfer to a lightly oiled deep gastro pan, adding onions, carrots, mushrooms, and garlic.
-
2Pour in 1 litre of dissolved MAGGI® BEEF BOOSTER and 500ml Guinness Beer, ensuring shins are 3/4 covered. Braise covered with foil for 2.5 hours. Uncover, baste, and cook for an additional 45 minutes.
-
3Allow shins to cool, then remove meat. Strain vegetables from braising liquid and reduce liquid to a thickened sauce.
-
4Divide the meat and juices and equal amounts of vegetables into ramekins. Pour reduced sauce over to just cover.
-
5For the mash topping, prepare MAGGI® INSTANT MASHED POTATO as per pack instructions, incorporating 250g of grated cheese. Transfer the cheesy potato mixture to a piping bag and generously top each ramekin. Bake at 170°C for 20 minutes and serve.
