New Hot Chockee recyclable cup

Investing $2.5m for recyclable Hot Chockee cups in partnership with 7-Eleven

Nestlé Professional has unveiled a $2.5 million investment to its Smithtown factory, the home of Milo, Nesquik and Nestlé Professional beverages.

To bolster local manufacturing and support collaborative product developments, the new line will make Nestlé Professional’s Hot Chockee, a delicious take-away hot chocolate product sold exclusively at 7-Eleven stores across Australia.

The partnership between Nestlé Professional and 7-Eleven has allowed for the development of a new recyclable cup including the label and foil seal, now accepted through kerbside recycling. This could save up to 95 tonnes of waste from entering landfill each year.

In unveiling the upgrade, Factory Manager Mathew Oram said the investment was a reflection of Nestlé’s commitment to supporting local manufacturing.

Our new production line is an important investment in the Smithtown factory and supports our manufacturing capabilities here in Australia – including expanding and developing solutions for our customers, like 7-Eleven via the Nestlé Professional business.

“Thanks to this new cup line, our Smithtown factory will be able to produce up to 4.7 million cups of Hot Chockee over the next 12 months, with capacity for other potential products.

“The team at Smithtown has been integral to the development of this product’s new, recyclable packaging – I’m really proud of our talented team.”

7-Eleven Head of Sustainability Fiona Baxter said,

“We are incredibly proud to continue our partnership with Nestlé Professional and invest in packaging solution innovation. Our new 7-Eleven Hot Chockee still has the same delicious taste, made and packed in Australia, with approximately 68 percent of ingredients sourced locally.”

The new Hot Chockee cup packaging is one example of Nestlé’s commitment to make all of its packaging designed for recycling.
