The Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat Award exists to support the country’s top emerging culinary talent and offers young chefs the chance to elevate their professional development and employment prospects.
Nestlé Professional has a 55-year legacy in Australia with the Golden Chef Hat competition, as the most credible culinary award in the industry. 2020 introduces an exciting trans-Tasman element, with the competition launching in New Zealand to support even more chefs.
WHO CAN ENTER?
- Apprentice and junior chefs, who are:
- Australian or New Zealand residents (.i.e. residing in AU or NZ as a citizen, resident or holder of a valid visa during the promotional period to 30.12.20)
- Aged from 16 and under 25 years on 30th December 2020
- In the culinary industry (working or previously as a chef, cook, apprentice, culinary student)
HOW IT WORKS:
Complete and submit an online application as an individual (no team entries for 2020).
Once you submit the online entry form you will be directed to a confirmation page with details on next steps. This max 3-minute video is a chance for you to present either a plated entrée, main or dessert dish (one dish only). You can create any dish you think
best showcases your skills and best demonstrates your personality as a chef. Once your video is submitted, the 250 most creative, original and suitable entries will be awarded a $50 voucher .
You have until Monday 29th June (close time 11:59pm AEDT).
250 entries will proceed to be judged, with 12 regional winning chefs from across Australia and New Zealand announced on Monday 27 July. Prizes will be awarded to the 12 regional winning chefs ($250AUD per chef) with six additional video category award winners ($150AUD per chef).
These top 12 chefs then go on to compete in the grand finals (date and location to be announced). At the grand finals, one chef will be crowned Junior Chef of the Year and awarded a $10KAUD cash prize to support their culinary career.
*Important Information: Entry is for individuals who are AU or NZ residents working (current or recent) in the culinary industry & aged between 16 & under 25 on 30.12.20. Entry is open 4 May – 29 June 2020. Twelve regional winners will be announced 27 July 2020. Grand Finals cook-off date and location to be confirmed.
